Barnes and Noble invited me to participate on their Children’s Advisory Board, which might be kinda cool!! Apparently I will help provide advice, content, and product suggestions directly to BN.com . I will hold on to my fervent goal that I will impact bringing only good things to children.
MaryAnn, I just got your message to one of the art groups online, asking about how to teach reading to some grade 3 boys.
My suggestion is that you have them write and illustrate small books, or write and illustrate words. I have a reading endorsement, but I am an art teacher. I have extensive training in reading recovery, and one of the huge keys is having the kids write and reread their own books. They rarely forget their own words. Send me your email address and I will tell you more, if interested. Gayleparent@gmail.com

What a wonderful idea! I love how colorful the weaving is in the picture you included.
It was such a pleasure to have you comment on my blog! I am a big fan and am always telling my readers, "Process, not product!". :) We've gotten so many good ideas from your books - thank you so much for all you do! My son loves to "do art" and thanks to your philosophy I've felt ok letting him explore and make huge messes. If I hadn't heard of you or read your books I don't think I'd be as easy-going about art as I am, but you've made it clear how good it is for young children to explore art and that's made a huge difference in my frame of mind. Thank you!!
